A thin rock section of Barytes was viewed using crossed polarising filters. Barytes is an ore Rock and contains Barium Sulphate, also known as Heavy Spar. From the lead mines at Strontian, Lochaber. Scotland. This was where the element Stontium was discovered, and named after the village. This is the only major element named after a place, anywhere.
