This stand shows a rock thin section microscope photo of Peridotite from Ardnamurchan in the Highlands of Scotland. A thin rock section of Peridotite was viewed by polarised light microscopy. Peridotite is an igneous rock. From the Ardnamurchan volcano, now eroded down almost to the magma chamber, from where this sample would have originally come. Contains olivine, pyroxene and some feldspar. 60 Million years old. (the most recent volcano in UK)
These useful and interesting stands measure 15cm tall by 7cm wide and the height of the upright support above the 'shelf' is 13cm. They come flat packed in a cellophane bag so will fit through your letterbox and have a description of the image on the back.
