TOWBIN SOLUTION CHEMICAL CRYSTALS MICROSCOPE IMAGE COASTER (C20)

A mix of glycine / SDS and methanol (known as Towbin solution, used in Western blotting to transfer proteins from an acrylamide gel to a solid support) was evaporated to crystals on a microscope slide. By viewing these crystals using polarised light microscopy, amazing and interesting colours and patterns are seen. This is due to the crystals forming regular arrays and interfering with the light path to give the colours seen (no colours were changed using Photoshop).

90mm square coasters printed by dye sublimation to give a vibrant, high gloss, scratch resistant finish. 

Supplied with a description on the back of the coaster.
